For all of us who are a little scared of needles, the options available to us have always been limited to topical creams and serums containing hyaluronic acid, promising the same plumping effect. Although these are great at boosting our skin’s moisture levels and reducing our fine dehydration lines, they aren’t designed for quick, dramatic results.
So, if you’re you’ve been considering fillers but haven’t plucked up the courage yet, here’s a product you might want to consider: Fillerina. This brands range of products contain hyaluronic acid molecules in varying formulations that you can use at home — no aesthetician experience required!
How is Fillerina different from hyaluronic acid fillers?
Fillerina features the same ingredient, hyaluronic acid (HA) as Juvederm or Restylane but is much, stronger than the average HA serums on the market. While brands like Juverderm and Restylane use very large molecules of HA, Fillerina’s formula contains varying sizes of hyaluronic acid molecules. These different sized molecules penetrate all layers of the skin, some penetrate the top layers whilst the smaller ones are able to reach the deeper layers and work from the bottom out. Injectable fillers create an instant plump and can sometimes look overdone, whereas Fillerina is gradual, it takes between 14 to 21 days to plump up the skin and it will penetrate all layers of the skin to bring it back to the level it was five to 10 years ago. Giving a softer more natural look with no over plumping.
Is Fillerina meant to replace injectable fillers and hyaluronic acid serums?
If injections just aren’t your style, Fillerina is a great alternative offering softer more natural results that build over time. If you don’t want to switch from dermal fillers the products can also be used to maintain and prolong the effects of injectable fillers.
If you’re using Fillerina there’s no need for additional HA serums.
Is Fillerina for everyone? Who will benefit the most from Fillerina?
Fillerina products come in up to 5 grades, each one varying in formulation so its suitable for people of all ages. Grade 1 is for a younger person, who just wants to add volume to their lips and cheeks and perhaps fill in the odd fine line. If they don’t want to use the full replenishment treatment, then the Day cream, Night cream and Eye/Lip Creams are a perfect place to start. Grade 2 is for fine wrinkles and expression lines that have started to appear. This would be the perfect stage to start using the replenishment treatment as a boost to your normal skincare routine. Grade 3 is for skin with moderate wrinkles and expression lines so using the replenishment treatments 3-4 times a year and keeping the effects topped up with the day & night creams would form a good beauty regime. Grades 4 & 5 are for mature skin with deeper wrinkles, loss of volume and visible signs of sagging. This skin would benefit from some of the more targeted products such as eye & eyelid cream, lips and mouth cream and maybe also the neck and cleavage treatment.
Fillerina works on all ethnicities and sells in 34 countries around the world, although its only recently launched in the UK. It’s also suitable for all skin types even sensitive, rosacea & acne prone.
How long does it take to before you can see results? How long do the results last?
Fillerina is a 14 day treatment and needs to be applied for 14 days consecutively to see the benefits. You’ll start to see results in the first week, with full results in about 21 to 30 days. As the key ingredient is hyaluronic acid, to get the best results it’s recommended to drink 2 glasses of water every day during the 14 day application period. Using the day cream and night cream during the 14 days and after this will help to enhance and prolong the results.
The effects will last about three to four months, however it is recommended to repeat the treatment before this so you’re topping up what is already in your skin, rather than starting from scratch each time.
Do you need a consultation before trying Fillerina? Are there any known side effects?
Fillerina is for use at home. The applicator allows you to take control of where you want to fill, plump and lift. Don’t worry the applicator isn’t a needle, even though it looks a bit like one! It allows you to put the filler gel only where you need it.
There are no known side effects. Hyaluronic acid is an existing natural ingredient already in our skin and body, so by using these products you are simply replacing what has been lost from ageing.
